Carrie Fisher Talks Elizabeth Taylor, Eddie Fisher Relationship

In the wake of Elizabeth Taylor‘s death, stars from across the entertainment business have been weighing in on the impact of Taylor’s passing. In addition to making headlines for her contributions to the entertainment industry, Taylor turned heads for her love life and string of marriages. One of the scandals involving Taylor occurred when Eddie Fisher left then-wife Debbie Reynolds to be with Taylor. Actress Carrie Fisher, who was two at the time of the separation, commented on Taylor’s death, with only good things to say.

“If my father had to divorce my mother for anyone, I’m so grateful that it was Elizabeth,” Fisher said. “This was a remarkable woman who led her life to the fullest rather than complacently following one around.”

Taylor died at age 79 as a result of congestive heart failure. According to reports, Taylor passed at Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, surrounded by family. While Taylor was known for her acting and work in the fashion industry, Carrie Fisher focused on her generosity.

“She found time to become one of the earliest champions for those living with HIV,” explained Fisher.

Fisher also praised Taylor for true to friends and family and a “devoted mother”.

“[Elizabeth was] loyal to the lifelong friends surrounding her,” said Fisher. “She will be missed but never forgotten.”
