There are three types of air conditioning - evaporative cooling, gas heating and reverse cycle heating and cooling. What is evaporative cooling?
Evaporative cooling is not something new. In fact there is evidence to suggest that the Ancient Egyptians used a primitive form of evaporative cooling in their temples and palaces some 4,500 years ago. Evaporative cooling works on the principle of water evaporation. To demonstrate this for yourself, spray some water onto the back of your hand and then slowly blow over it. You'll notice how the patch of skin where the water was feels cooler. A further example is the effect of the sea on the beach, where water held as moisture in the sea breeze cools down the beach. What is Refrigerated heating and cooling?
Refrigerated heating or cooling or "Reverse cycle systems" as they are commonly referred to, work through a very efficient heat pump to generate either cooling or heating. Reverse cycle systems come in many forms and range from single wall unit mounted splits to ducted systems with independent control over each room. |
