History of Lahore

Lahore is located on the banks of River Ravi. It is close to the Pakistan-India border. According to legends, Lahore was is named for its founder Lao, son of Lord Rama of the Hindu epic Ramayana.

Lahore is pronounced is the capital of the Pakistani Pprovince of Punjab. It is the second largest city in Pakistan after Karachi. It is known as the Heart of Pakistan, due to its popularity, historical importance in the creation of Pakistan, and also being a cultural, political and educational Hub of the country. It is also called the City of Gardens because of the abundance of gardens as compared to other cities of Pakistan.
